Long Driving Day
It’s going to be a long day on the road. Raleigh, NC to Bloomington, IL = close to 900 800 miles. Maybe this time I’ll actually stick to my “no fast food” pledge.
When I started this road trip a few days ago, I told a few people, “I’m not going to stop at any fast food joints. I’m only going to eat at local places and such. I know it’s nothing new and plenty of people have done it before, but I’m going to do it anyway.”
I didn’t even last one meal. Stomach growling, I cruised into a McDonald’s somewhere in southern Virginia. Let’s just count that one towards my once-a-year pilgrimage to the Golden Arches. Seriously folks, from now on, I’m going to eat the local way. Today there’s a BBQ joint in Galax, VA that looks promising or a deli in Charleston, WV that’ll be perfect for lunch.
It’s been a wonderful few days here in Raleigh with Louise, Thomas and Gilbert, who, at 10 months, is about the smiliest guy I’ve met. I look forward to hearing what comes out of his mouth when his little grunts and coos turn into words … English … Danish … or otherwise.
Hey Justin! Thanks for posting along your way. Gilbert is adorable…that HAIR! Keep on truckin’, safe travels. Love ya, Corinne
Thanks for checking it out, Corinne! I’ll do my best to update this thing regularly. See you soon!
