Photo Gallery: Kalandula Falls
Last weekend Kelli and I joined the other two Angola doctors Sarah and Christine on a two-day trip to the remote Kalandula Falls. Apparently Kalandula sits only behind Victoria in terms of height and water volume, although no one knows for sure—the falls have never been officially measured. We also spent time in a provincial capital (N´dalatando) and at the spectacular geological formations of Pedras Negras (black stones).
It was my first Angolan road trip with probably 18 hours spent in a souped-up Land Cruiser on surprisingly good pavement. Between catnaps we opened our eyes to green hills, surreal trees, and countless mud-hut villages and waving people.
It was a good introduction to this beautiful country.
