My name is Justin and I started this blog back in 2012 as a way to chronicle our travels from Vermont to Angola and back.
I posted on a semi-regular basis over the next few years as a way to stay connected with friends and family half a world away.
But as with any travel blog, the writing dried up when the traveling stopped.
Towards the end of our Angolan adventure, I noticed a bald spot in my beard, which I quickly learned was the beginnings of alopecia areata.
Nearly five years later, my AA has gotten worse–to the point that I can no longer hide it or hide from it.
I’ve decided to give this blogging thing another try as a way to confront my condition / frustration / embarrassment / feelings of isolation.
So this here is crab sandwich 2.0: a travel + alopecia areata + random shit blog.
I thought about changing the name, but I don’t want to be defined by my random-ass hair loss. I obsess enough over my alopecia, so why give it the honor of taking over my blog? Screw that.
